GLOSSARY...

Unless indicated otherwise, the words below are in the Pali language.

Ajahn (Thai) = teacher

Anagami ="Non-returner" = the third stage in the realization of nibbana.

Arahant = "Holy One" = an enlightened being free from all delusion through the realization on nibbana in the fourth and final stage and who id  free from rebirth.

Bodhisatta = In the Theravadin school, this refers to a being destined for enlightenment.

Dhamma = the Buddha's Teaching; Ultimate Truth

Four Noble Truth Buddha's  = First teaching in which he pointed out thetruths of siffering its cessation, and the path leading to its cessation.

Kamma = volitional action

Nibbana = full enlightenment; the mental in which all greed, hatred, and delusion have been completely and permanently eradicated.

Noble Ones = Those who have attained one of the four progressive stages of enlightenment. The sotapanna, sakadagami, anagami, and arahant are all Noble Ones.

Sakadagami = "Once-returner" = the second stage in the realization of nibbana.

Samsara = cycle of birth.

Sotapanna = "Stream-entrant",the first stage in the realization of nibbana

Wat (Thai) = monastery; temple
