Introduction
A few of these articles have been on A Buddhist Library since its
beginning, without a
signature. I've decided to add more and put my name on them just
now (Febuary
2009 ) for a few
reasons. The first is the thought I've had recently, that if a
person finds something useful in one
article,
then perhaps they'll
also get something out of the other things I've written over the years.
My second reason for doing this is that, having put these writings out
into the world, I feel some
responsibility for them. To paraphrase one of my teachers, if
there's anything here that is not
clear,
then as long as I'm here, I'll do my best to clear up any confusion, as
much as I can.
For that reason I've included a feedback form, at the bottom of this
page, and elsewhere on the website,
in case anyone wants to communicate about
these or other matters.
Now that these articles are online, I'll be able to add
to them, so, if you like these kind of things,
check back from time to time to read the
latest. Also, check out these Things I like to share,
which are some of my favorite articles and texts from other
teachers.
And if you're ever in San Francisco, drop me
a line!
A short note about copyrights: my own feeling
is that there should be no copyright restrictions whatsoever
on
Buddhist teachings - on any teaching that can remove suffering, or
lessen it even slightly. In my view it is
completely
unconscionable to withhold or in any way restrict the sharing of such
teachings. If people value
these teachings they are welcomed to
support publishers, centers, and writers in whatever way they
can.
I hope people will take whatever is here that they think might be
helpful, and make use of them however they
see fit, and that these things will be shared widely with others.
May all beings benefit.
Writings by Jason Espada
In two sections: 25 articles on Buddhist subjects; 20 articles on
various other subjects
Also, at this time there are two long texts included here. The
first is An
Anthology
of
Buddhist Prayer,
which was completed in early 2007, and is 393 pages. The book is made up of prayers from the
different
Buddhist Traditions, and is perhaps 95% by other writers and teachers. This can be found linked to above,
and after item 3 on
this list.
The second is long text is A
Collection of Buddhist Healing Prayers and
Practices. This was completed
in March of 2009, and is 227 pages.
This is mostly my own writing. It is linked to above,
and
after article
number 24.
I also have two collections of poetry here, as Volume
I, and Volume
II,
and as
numbers 44 and 45 on this list.
